Salut! Wrapping up (finally) my fashion week fun is my review of the presentation for OMELA, a new London-based luxury brand with Russian designer Olga Vilshenko at the helm (who I must say is a glamorous and elegant woman in person) and a design team made up of Balmain, Giles and Galliano alumni. On display was a striking collection of evening dresses in silk charmeuse and printed georgette, most with grosgrain ribbon harnesses - some of which were embellished or embroidered. Leather, super-soft knits and silver fox fur-collared coats and jackets made for chic daywear pieces. A long wool, cashmere, silk and mohair mix cardigan with silk chiffon panels was so soft and luxurious you wouldn't want to wear anything underneath, I couldn't stop touching it. If you like your look luxe all the time, you just might be an OMELA girl. (And I know it's considered gauche to talk about such things, but they had the loveliest hors d'oeuvres - including cherry tomatoes in a candy apple-like shell. I found it difficult not to stand there and go to town on the whole spread!) I just got back from a weekend in Belgium so that's the focus of my next post, and watch for the interview with Xuan-Thu Nguyen, a Parisian haute couture and pret-a-porter designer who I think you'll adore!
